Exhibition of Paintings by Members of the Whitney Studio Club
About the Exhibition
The Whitney Studio Club, when organized ten years ago by Gertrude V. Whitney, had as its chief purpose the appointment of a gallery where young painters and sculptors could exhibit their work under the best of circumstances. It was neither necessary to have had experience as an artist, nor to have won honors elsewhere to become a member eligible for an exhibition whenever that member felt himself ready to present his work to the public.
Faithfully has the Club adhered to this idea with the result that, if the exhibitions have not always been of a finished nature, they were of interest to those concerned with the future of American Art and Artists.
