About the Performance
UPDATE: WAITLIST ONLY
Due to such an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from our audience, we’d like to do a little bit of restructuring to accommodate those who wish to attend.
There will now be two separate performances, each 35 minutes in length. They will take place at 6pm and at 7pm. If you have already signed up, please email information@artsclubchicago.org to let us know your preferred performance time.
- Guests who attend the 6pm performance, we ask that you depart before the 7pm performance begins so that the space can accommodate the second audience.
- If you intend to attend the 7pm performance, doors for that will open 10 minutes before.
The performers have planned a promenade-style performance that will move from room to room in the gallery and interact with the audience and with Cosmo Whyte’s artworks. They would like you, the audience, to move with them if you’re able (that being said, we will have chairs available if you’d like one). Due to the space constraints in the gallery, we suggest that you check your coat or bag at the closet behind the gallery near the restrooms. The door attendant can direct you when you arrive. We’ll have staff on hand to check coats for you (no charge).

Join Angel Bat Dawid, acclaimed Chicago performer and former “Chicagoan of the Year in Jazz,” in a celebration of Cosmo Whyte’s exhibition in the Arts Club galleries. She and musical collaborator 9magicforever1 will incorporate voice, movement and multi-instrumental performance into a newly composed, artistically responsive work in the gallery. Whyte and Bat Dawid share a conceptual connection to ancestry and history, which makes for an apt pairing in this compelling and meditative evening.
